Free communication app
VSee Messenger is a free Android application for staying in touch with your friends and co-workers. The app allows up to four people in a single group call and offers instant messaging. VSee Messenger is ideal for low-bandwidth communication on 3G, 4G, and WiFi networks.
Four-person group calling
VSee Messenger offers group video calls with up to three additional people, displaying everyone's faces on your screen at once. You can quickly switch which camera is in use when talking with your friends and co-workers. This feature is ideal if you want to show an event to the group.
Additionally, you'll see everyone's connectivity strength in the bottom left corner of their video. There are no advertisements that obscure the video feed or distract you from your conversations.
Instant messages
Using the well-designed interface, you can navigate through contacts and message people individually. This feature is common in most communication apps, allowing you to instantly send texts. You can use VSee Messenger to send direct messages by selecting the ‘chats’ option from the main menu's Hotbar.
Aside from text messages, you're also able to upload images from your device's gallery and show it to your contacts.
Frozen camera
VSee Messenger suffers from one predominant issue due to using a low bandwidth connectivity method. The incoming video will often freeze or lag, whether you're in a group call or one-on-one. However, this issue only affects the video and seldomly causes calls to break up while they are speaking.
Security
VSee Messenger uses an end-to-end encryption method that offers a decent layer of security and privacy to your calls. The security method is often enough to prevent any unauthorized applications from eavesdropping on your conversations.
Our take
VSee Messenger is an excellent application. If for any reason you don't like to use its alternatives such as Skype or Zoom. The app has a few significant issues, mainly the consistent freezing of video calls. However, the instant messaging functions and additional features all work well.
Should you download it?
No. Although this app is an excellent choice for those looking for a low bandwidth option to video call, we think the alternatives are a better choice.
