Grow your practice with solid foundation
Starting a new fitness routine can be intimidating, and even more so with yoga, an ancient practice with a plethora of things to learn. This app is an excellent starting point, empowering a new yogi.
The basics only
Yoga for Complete Beginners is a health app which seeks to show the ropes to those new to yoga. It’s beginner-friendly and has plenty of useful features.
Once you download the Yoga for Complete beginners app, you have several options. You may start doing one of the four available practices, read the starting guide, or study the basic poses in text.
All four practices come from Adriene, one of the most popular online yoga teachers and the founder of Find What Feels Good. The app includes beginner level videos, where Adriene explains the must-knows for a sustainable practice. You don't need to enter YouTube to watch them, either - the application will play them for you.
Within the starting guide, you'll find comprehensive explanations and advice on the benefits of yoga, as well as quick tips, to encourage you to get started.
The 'Basic Yoga Poses' section goes in more depth in the 15 foundational poses of each practice. There's an instructional image followed by several paragraphs of explanations and guidance for you to train if you're not comfortable with jumping in a video right away.
Overall, the application is extremely straightforward to learn and use. All functions show up on the screen as soon as you open it, and there are no unnecessary features to overwhelm you.
Where can you run this program?
The Yoga for Complete Beginners application is for Android only. To run it, you’ll need operating system version 4.0.3 or above.
Is there a better alternative?
Yes. If you’re new to this form of exercise, you can find more variety and guidance on Daily Yoga, available for Android and iOS. Alternatively, there’s Down Dog, which is much more comprehensive and tailored, although not free of charge.
Our take
The Yoga for Complete Beginners application is an excellent place to get started, and it lives up to its name. It would be even better if it included more variety, though.
Should you download it?
Yes, if you’re interested in yoga and find the business of getting started intimidating. However, expect to uninstall it and switch to something more comprehensive in a matter of weeks.
