Snack Video is a social network for creating and watching short videos.
Before uploading your video, you edit it and add music using the in-app tool.
What is Snack Video?
Like most other short-video communities, once you’ve created your account, you can start uploading your own short videos. The maximum video post length on Snack is 57 seconds.
Snack has been in the Google Play Store for some time but has only recently become prominent. It’s likely that this is partially due to the attention that other Chinese social media apps have been getting in the international media.
Is Snack Video free?
Yes, Snack is free to download from the Play Store.
Its Play Store listing mentions that it contains adverts and has in-app purchases. However, even on the developer’s own website, there’s no mention of what these may be, but it’s possible that it’s an option to pay and remove the ads.
Is Snack Video safe to use?
It doesn’t appear to come with any malware when installed from the Play Store. As always, if you choose to download it from other sites, you run the risk of downloading any undisclosed software added to the installation package.
With regards to your privacy and data, wherever you download it from, you should always carefully read the information on privacy, data, and app permissions before agreeing to the terms and conditions.
How do I download a Snack video to my computer?
The simplest, most secure option is to download the video to your Android device then move it to a cloud storage service such as OneDrive or Google Drive. If your cloud storage is synced, and the video is of a supported file type, you can play it on your PC.
Alternatively, you can install an Android emulator on your PC then install the Snack Video APK from a third-party website.
Although relatively unknown compared to the likes of TikTok, Snack Video has been on the market long enough to claim a user base of around 10 million.
It follows a similar usage model format to that of its competitors, although it’s generally regarded as being more user-friendly.
Should you download it?
Like many other Chinese apps including TikTok, it’s been banned in some countries due to those government’s national security concerns. If that doesn’t bother you, then downloading it from the Play Store shouldn’t be a problem.
However, there are alternatives such as Roposo, or Clash 21 Second Video.
