Webex Meetings comes from Cisco, a company known for its business management software. With Meetings, you can hold video conference calls and engage in collaboration, even when it’s impossible to meet in person. It’s available for free or as part of a paid subscription plan.

Remote work and video calls

As remote working becomes more common, people and businesses are seeking the best all-in-one collaboration packages. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and GoToMeeting are all popular choices, but Cisco's Webex software offers even more than just meeting options.

Webex can also be used to call and message work colleagues, so you’re all on the same page regarding team objectives. It’s secure, accessible, and encourages collaboration.

Pricing

The free version lets you host meetings up to 50 minutes long and for up to 100 people. It also includes various conference call features, like screen sharing, breakout sessions, and interactive emoticons.

Subsequent plans go up in price and allow more people to host video calls, increase meeting length to a maximum of 24 hours, and incorporate advanced collaboration features like mp4 recordings. All plans let you join a meeting up to 15 minutes early.

How does it work?

You can start or schedule a meeting from the Webex dashboard, which includes options to tweak your device’s audio and video settings. If you invite someone to a meeting, they’ll receive an email with a link. If the person invited doesn’t have Webex, they’ll be prompted to download it from Cisco.

During a meeting, you can select various options from the control panel, such as screen and document sharing. If you have a paid account, you’ll be able to choose recording functions, too. If you’re concerned about security, your meetings can be password-protected.

Our take

Webex from Cisco easily rivals other video conference call software due to its optional extras that offer further customization. Each meeting can also sync across different devices (iOS, Android, Windows), so collaboration can happen anywhere.

Should you download it?

Yes. The free version isn’t time-limited, and it’ll give you a decent taste of the services on offer.
