Ventoy first came out in April, but the developer stayed active, improving the functionalities of this productivity software. The program uses ISO files to create bootable USB drives but doesn’t extract them.Booting easier than ever

Booting easier than ever

This new software application takes a different approach to OS booting, facilitating the process and making it more flexible.

Ventoy represents a new generation of ISO burning apps. It’s open-source, free, and supports over 260 ISO files. The only drawback is that you can’t use it for non-ISO installations.

Typically, you’d need to unzip ISO files before launching an installation. In this case, you can copy and paste them to your USB device and boot directly from it.

Another way Ventoy makes booting more convenient is by letting you transfer numerous images to the USB. The contents of the device will stay untouched after each installation.

This program is quite easy to use, too. When you download and extract the file, it’ll give you a list of devices. All you need to do is choose your USB and click ‘Update.’ The program will format the device for installation needs.

Then it’s time to place ISOs on the partition. Ventoy will display a menu with operating systems at your disposal, and the developer also lists all available OSs on the website.

The program supports Secure Boot and auto-installation. For added convenience, you can perform both UEFI and Legacy BIOS installations, enabling you to work with older and newer OS versions.

Where can you run this program?

You can run this program on most versions of Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Is there a better alternative?

No, because this tool makes the process much more straightforward than its alternatives. However, other options include Easy2Boot, which also supports UEFI booting, and open-source YUMI and Rufus.

Our take

Ventoy lets you dedicate only one USB for all your installation needs. It’s quick, functional, and free of charge, making it a fantastic option to try.

Should you download it?

Yes. It’s among the best options at the moment. It’ll be especially useful if you like trying out different operating systems.
