Free SSD performance checker
AS SSD Benchmark is a free, simple program for testing SSD drive performance. It runs a series of certified tests to check whether there are any issues with your system. The software is lightweight and portable, letting you carry it on a USB stick for quick checks.
Check your SSD
Solid-state drive, or SSD for short, is one of the most significant pieces of hardware for PC storage, replacing conventional, slower hard disks with flash-based memory. However, it only works that way if everything is running smoothly.
AS SSD Benchmark works on Windows 7 and higher, letting you perform checks on your drives and locate any underlying issues.
The developer made the tool straightforward and 100% free, giving you quick access to information regarding SSD time, speed, and capabilities.
Straightforward user interface
The interface is clean and intuitive, requiring no in-depth knowledge on your end. After you download and install the program, it’ll show all the SSDs available on the PC. Choose the one that you want to examine and press the ‘Start’ button at the top left corner.
Since there’s no batch-test option, you’ll perform the same steps for each drive. Luckily, you can save the global result datasheet and compare numbers when deciding where to install your next app.
Three standardized tests
This program can run three SSD performance checks on the device. It chooses SEQ by default, but the two alternatives are easily accessible at the toolbar too:
- SEQ measures how quickly the drive is capable of reading and writing 1GB of data.
- 4K test checks the rates at 4K blocks.
- 4K-64 calculates the speed at 64 threads.
You’ll receive the results in IOPS or MB per second in a well-organized, clearly labeled table. Other information includes access time and the copying and compressing capabilities benchmark, which helps you better understand the overall SSD capacity.
Our take
Overall, AS SSD Benchmark is well-executed, performing its primary tasks hassle-free. It’s a must-have for anybody who regularly works with desktop devices.
Should you download it?
Yes. It’s lightweight, easy to use and carry around, and quite handy for those who find PC performance essential for their work.
