Watch Indian TV content on your phone
Netflix, HBO, and Amazon Prime are taking the world of TV watchers by storm, but not everyone is ready to pay for them. Prime Flix is one of the few platforms offering the same services for free.
Easy to use but not the best
Prime Flix is a video streaming app available for people looking to watch TV on their smartphones. It seeks to provide users with accessible, streamlined content.
Prime Flix is a multimedia application bringing a plethora of TV content, mostly from India, to its viewers. It is affordable, comprehensive, and offers a familiar interface which eliminates the learning curve.
At first glance, the interface of this app resembles Netflix. The only features lacking are the content previews and the trending tab. Instead, there are thumbnails of shows available for streaming. A click on the title shows you the cast, summary, and episode list.
To add to the convenience, the app enables you to search for shows, view the coming soon section, and save your favorite titles.
Prime Flix also features original content highlighted at the top of their homepage. It offers series and movies in English, as well as native Indian languages.
Issues arise once you play your video of choice. Prime Flix takes a while to load, and videos tend to buffer even with a stable Internet connection. They also don't come in high resolution, and you don't get to pick up where you left off if you close a video.
Where can you run this program?
Prime Flix runs on Android smartphones up from the 4.1 version. There is also the service available for iOS devices versions 11.0 and later.
Is there a better alternative?
Yes, although many are paid options. If you want seamless streaming on a budget, go for Hulu. Disney+ is excellent for families, while Netflix offers the best value for money. For quality, go for HBO NOW.
Our take
The app at first looks as a great resource for those seeking to enjoy Indian content. However, its reliability issues severely hinder the user experience.
Should you download it?
No, or at least not yet. While Prime Flix shows great potential, it lacks the final touches required for it to be considered a good streaming option.
