Gaming with a twist

This title did the unimaginable, crossing the horror and educational genres. As you can imagine, it created a mismatched game that flopped epically, but somehow has become relevant enough to go from 90’s computer program to Android app.

Solve riddles while you are being chased

A strange twist to learning. Solve math problems after you collect notebooks left by your friends.

A game with a different twist to it. Players will either love or hate this weird learning concept. You are a student in a school who needs to find and collect seven notebooks that have been left in different locations.

You will encounter a colorful cast of characters along the way. Some of them will chase you down, and some of them will try to distract you from finding the books. Each time you find a notebook, you are tasked with solving a few math problems. The questions start easy but then progress to more difficult questions. When you get a question wrong, you get chased by Baldi, a teacher at the school, and you need to run away, and evade him for a time, adding a sort of horror and suspense feel to the game, akin to the Friday the 13th The Game, but with less gore.

This title didn’t age well and the proof is clearly visible. Although it made sense to keep the original graphics, the sound engineering is defective, and should have been redone, before the Android launch. The in-game audio can’t be adjusted, so you’re stuck listening to it, or muting it altogether. In the Android version, the developers should have thought about adding a tutorial, because this feature was missing in the original, and people will have to rely on the internet to figure out what the objective of this game is. Where can you run this program?

This program is installable on Android version 4.3 and higher.

Is there a better alternative?

Yes. This title is a poor mix of two genres; a better math education game would be Math vs Zombies because you’re doing math problems to fight off zombies.

Our take

Overall, this is a game that should have never been developed, but somehow amassed a following that has played this game on and off since the 90s.

Should you download it?

No. If you actually enjoy either horror or learning games, then you shouldn’t invest your time in this title.
