In case you hadn’t noticed, technology is now fully integrated into our daily lives, whether we are at the workplace, at home, or somewhere in between. Computers have moved from being a luxury to a necessity, and we use them to store almost all our personal and financial information - it kind of makes sense to make sure they are secure! Thanks to security programs like SuperAntiSpyware, you should be able to rest easy at night without worrying about malicious software infiltrating your computer. Founded in 2004, SuperAntiSpyware is the brainchild of software development giant Nich Skreptos. The group has almost 15 years experience in the cyber security business, time enough to improve and refine its program’s functions and effectiveness - but does it manage to meet the high expectations of its users?

Getting protection

Most people think the SuperAntiSpyware is a type of antivirus, but it's actually different: it works alongside your antivirus program and identifies malware, spyware, adware, trojan, etc.

When you visit the SuperAntiSpyware website, you can read the list of threats that the program is designed to protect your computer from: malware, spyware, adware, trojans, worms, ransomware, keyloggers, hijackers, rootkits, PUPs, crypto miners, and many more. It's easy to get SuperAntiSpyware running on your computer, you simply click on the download link and it will automatically determine whether your processor needs the 32bit or 64bit version. In a few clicks, you are all set - you continue to use your computer as normal while the software works seamlessly in the background.

If you don't feel like committing to a paid plan right away, you can get the Pro Edition on a 14-day free trial period. The website will not even ask your for billing information, and your subscription gets automatically canceled unless you input it yourself after the trial phase.

What it does

As mentioned, many people think the SuperAntiSpyware is a type of antivirus, but it actually works alongside an antivirus program to identify malware, spyware, adware, trojans, etc. This means that to have optimal security on your PC, you will need both this program and an antivirus. Note that the free version does not offer real-time protection and automatic updates, so you need to run these manually.

Apart from detecting and blocking malicious threats, SuperAntiSpyware can also repair damage in your PC, including infections which are already present when it’s installed. The repair system toolbox can help you eliminate spyware and restore your system back to perfect condition. You can also perform full, quick, and custom scans to go over your OS and find possible threats that masquerade as legitimate files. It runs and fixes the different parts of your operating system with no perceptible effect on your PC’s performance.

Finding technical support is also fairly easy with SuperAntiSpyware as they have a comprehensive online knowledge base available on their website. They also offer support via email with a 24-hour turnaround time.

Where can you run this program?

SuperAntiSpyware works seamlessly on computers running on the Windows Operating System. It's compatible with Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows 10. Its installer will identify whether you're using a 32-bit or a 64-bit system and will set up the correct version for your computer. Unfortunately, this security software does not work with Mac, iOS, or Android devices.

Is there a better alternative?

There's a handful of programs that can be used as an alternative to SuperAntiSpyWare. Windows Defender is a built-in program for Windows 10 that can help defend your PC from viruses, spyware, and malicious software. You don't have to install anything or pay extra as it comes with your operating system. It promises real-time protection and is also integrated into Microsoft Edge to help keep you protected from harmful downloads and websites. You can set up parental controls for your Windows and Xbox devices to effectively manage your child's surfing and gaming.

Webroot SecureAnywhere is also a great option for your security needs. Unlike SuperAntiSpyware, it runs on multiple platforms including Mac and Android devices. It claims to be 60x faster than its competitors in terms of average scan time. You can also eliminate traces of online activity and it gives you 25GB of online storage you can access anywhere.

Our take

SuperAntiSpyware wouldn’t have survived in the business for so long without a good reason. It’s both easy to use and seems to live up to the promises made on the website. However, as there are other existing programs that are available to some Windows users without additional costs, it’s debatable whether the paid version is worthwhile.

Should you download it?

Yes, if you feel you need extra protection for your computer and don't mind paying for the premium experience. If you're on Windows 10, then you already have a built-in software that will do the job for you. Overall, it's still a good measure to take to increase the security of your PC.
