Gameplay

Pass the time with the super chill SpongeBob SquarePants video game adaptation. It’s a great choice for kids but not so much for real gamers.

It’s hard not to fall for the striking graphics and cute animations. If you’ve played any of the SpongeBob SquarePants series, you’d appreciate the high definition of Bikini Bottom. Fans of the TV show will feel right at home playing the game.

After a few levels, you’ll notice how easy this game is. There are no challenges, and the plot is hard to follow. It tries to be a quasi-RPG with multilevel quests and collectible items. Most of it seems like a supersized 3D arcade. Players will find themselves in endless repetitions of running and jumping.

The gameplay itself isn’t bad. There are three characters, including Patrick and Sandy Cheeks. Each of them has a set of unique moves besides the generic attacks. Some of them are tongue boarding and underwear bungee jumping.

SpongeBob SquarePants was released in June 2020 and is available for purchase.

Kids will love this game as it’s adorably animated and not too difficult to play and win. For older gamers, the fun may not last long.
