PowerDirector’s primary features are similar to those of standard video editing apps, but with the quality and tools of desktop software. These include 4K editing, speed adjustment, video stabilizing, animations, audio editing, and more. 

The overall quality of the app is able to match that of Adobe Creative Cloud without requiring a payment for the primary suite of tools. The interface is simple and easy to navigate too, making editing quick and painless.

It’s regulated by Google Play, making it safe to download and install. A premium option is available that gives you access to exclusive content, ad removal, and unlimited access to stock assets to use in editing.

Drawbacks

Users of the app have mentioned that the gallery is tedious to work with. Picking and sorting through the gallery is difficult and the developers have not made an improvement to fix it. 

Also, the premium purchase feature doesn’t function properly. After purchasing, the premium will continue to request being purchased due to a bug and will need to be forcefully overridden by following developer instructions. Overall, the biggest issue with the PowerDirector app is that the developers offer workarounds instead of fixing the core problem.

Competition

There are a number of apps that allow you to edit videos directly on your phone. Film Maker Pro by Cerdillac, Media Studio, and Video.Guru are three competitors of PowerDirector.

Film Maker Pro uses the same freemium price structure as PowerDirector but also offers a unique selling point in the form of a specialized music video template and designer. Similarly, Video.Guru also offers a freemium structure but is specialized in creating youtube videos, and as such, all of the tools are geared towards this.
