Free voice and audio recordings with iScream
iScream is a free audio and voice recording application for Mac. You can make one-click sound recordings using your computer's microphone, line-in, or other input audio device. The program is perfect for making quick recordings or voice notes, as well as other short sound recordings.
Launched in 2013 and designed by Media Human, this useful tool was initially developed in response to the absence of any type of pre-installed recording application with Apple's operating system. Although iScream is relatively basic with few features and options, it is an easy application for making good quality recordings.
To use iScream, all you need to do is click on the icon on the Dock and start recording. To end your recording, simply click again on the Dock icon. You can also configure the program to run from the Menu Bar. The main window lets you see and manage your recordings. You can delete items from the list while preserving the file on your hard drive. Recordings are saved in AAC, MP3, or WAV formats, giving you the ability to hear your recordings with virtually any player. In addition to selecting the file type and input, you can also pause during the recording and select different output directories.
