Keep your memories safe

Not only can you save your photos to the cloud, but you can also share your pictures with people you know using the ‘permission’ feature. You can even create and share entire albums.

Photo storage in the cloud

Organize your photos in Google’s photo gallery. Back them up to the cloud for safe-keeping and access them from anywhere in the world.

Sign in to the Google photos app for free to start uploading your media. When you upload your data, you can delete it from your device. That way, you have space for all the other apps you want to download and use.

Google photos is an intelligent app. It can automatically group your photos by the date they were taken, where they were taken, or even what appears in the pictures. It can tag faces, identify different animals, and even categorize images by location.

Another bonus to the app is the editing tool. A few filters allow you to make small changes to your images. Create animated GIFs from your photos or collages.

The app will consolidate photos it gets from several places. It will take photos from your phone, Google Drive, and your saved Picasa folders. These photos will then be stored in your Google Photos drive in the cloud.

Although this app provides a ton of functionality and comfort, it has its downsides. Uploading can be frustrating, as the speed is below average depending on your location. If you’re on a limited data plan, wifi is a must. If you happen to fly media to the clouds without a wifi connection, you can expect a hefty phone bill. Also, the privacy you sacrifice for convenience is unsettling.

Where can you run this program?

Google Photos can be downloaded onto any iPhone that has iOS version 10.0 or later.

Is there a better alternative?

There are a variety of options available that offer photo storage and organization features. One Drive is very similar, but Google photos makes the favorites list when it comes to photo storage apps.
