Make it smaller!

AlZip is a free file compression and archiving software developed by ESTsoft that lets you make your files smaller. It also helps you put passwords on your programs and place them in over forty formats. You can also use the program on ISO and BIN files.

Change it how you want

Zipping your files should be an easy-to-use process that gives you the best results possible. ALZip tries to make it easier, but it doesn’t quite hit the mark.

There are many programs for compressing files. ALZip does a good job of having fast compression rates. However, it is slower than both WinZip and 7-Zip, which are the most popular applications of this kind.

AlZip also falls behind when you compare the size of the final products. It is at a slim margin with Winzip; 7-Zip, by far, packages the final product the best. Even so, ALZip has a great design.

It also has some excellent standard features, like password protection. Unfortunately, the app does not come with encryption like the other alternative titles. It does, however, have a virus scanner integrated into the program to ensure everything is safe.

Where can you run this program?

You can run it from Windows 2000 and onwards.

Is there a better alternative?

Yes. If you want a free program, 7-Zip stands above all the other compression utility apps with its powerful processor. WinZip has a bit better compatibility, but its price tag poses as the main barrier for it to compete with the others. WinRAR is a popular option as well.

Our take

Overall, ALZip is a solid program despite the larger-than-average final size of the files. It is quite simple to use and will provide a solid experience with its utility. Unfortunately, the lack of encryption is a serious blow to its abilities.

Should you download it?

No. You should go for WinZip or 7-Zip.
