VoltaicHD is a simple and easy-to-use program that allows users to convert AVCHD videos for editing in iMovie. iMovie can be quite picky when it comes to accepting and editing certain video formats, especially in HD. This is where VoltaicHD comes in handy, as it enables users to convert their footage into a format that iMovie can work with.

One of the key features of VoltaicHD is its ability to preview the first frame of AVCHD files. This allows users to decide which clips they want to convert and which ones to leave on the camera or discard. Additionally, VoltaicHD supports most major Canon, Sony, and Panasonic HD video cameras, although support for other brands is limited.

The program has a user-friendly interface that makes it extremely easy to use. Simply browse to the file you want to convert and click "Start". You can also view a preview of the first few frames and detailed information about the clip before converting it.

However, it's important to note that the demo version of VoltaicHD only allows users to convert the first 10 seconds of AVCHD files or 50MB for non-AVCHD files. Despite this limitation, VoltaicHD remains an essential tool for iMovie users who want to edit their videos in HD. It's unfortunate that iMovie doesn't already include a feature like this.
