Run your own country

Tropico 0/3

Tropico is a fun game where you need to manage a nation by the same name. The country is in terrible need of a major improvement for both its economy and agriculture. IF you keep an eye on it all though, you can turn the place around.

You call the shots

In Tropico, you’re the president of a proud nation, a land in desperate need of modernization.

The Tropico game series is a fun collection all about resource management and building upgrades. The sequels have dominated the construction and management simulation genre and expanded its reach to mobile devices as well.

As the president, you’re fully in charge of the nation’s development and can shape it however you’d like. You can manage roads, the military, buildings, and the locals. You also decide where funds go and what improvements your country requires. It’s a challenge to transform a simple country into a brawling metropolis. That’s where the fun is, and this game hits the mark.

As far as working with your people, it’s a bit of a struggle. While playing, you’ll deal with a lot of politics. You’ll recount elections, manage public opinion, calm unruly crowds, and reward the loyal followers you’ve gained. You decide whether your nation will lean far to the left, or in the opposite direction. This aspect of the game is more engaging than you’d expect.

Best of all, and the very attribute that sets this game apart from other titles, is the lack of in-app purchases. Many other titles would require you to spend money to bypass timers or energy limits that need to recharge. You won’t find any of that nonsense here.

Where can you run this program?

Tropico is available for IOS 12.0 and up, as well as Android 8.0 and up.

Is there a better alternative?

No. If you’re a fan of the computer game series, then you won’t find anything that compares to Tropico. However, there are other ports that work great, such as Rome: Total War and SimCity.
