The battle royale game with a simple premise

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (commonly known as PUBG) is an online battle royale multiplayer shooter game developed by no other than Brendan Greenepioneer of the battle royale genre and creator of ARMA series and H1Z1: King of the Kill. After its release, the game surprisingly took the gaming world by storm and continues to be one of the more popular games today. 63 players. 1 island. Limited supplies. Will you come out alive in this action-packed game?

PUBG is a battle royale game with one basic premise: Fight your enemies and be the last man standing. You’re pitted against 63 other players and airdropped onto an island. Once you land, you’ll need to find weapons, ammo, armor, and vehicles to stay alive. As the game goes on, the 'safe zone' shrinks and moves, forcing all of the remaining players to flee to that area. The action is non-stop and you can count that the game will be intense the whole time through.

Let The Game Begin!

PUBG is not as easy as it may look at first sight. Challenges can arise from the beginning and lead to many losses early in the game. One perfect example is when you discover that you don't have the best weapons around to defend yourself against enemies. But no worries. Soon enough, as you come to understand the map, you'll start figuring out where the good stuff is located. The map itself is very large. There are plenty of places to hide and grab gear. While this is a plus for you, don't think that you're off the hook. Remember that your enemies are getting ready just as much as you are. With the safe zone constantly changing, you and the other players will need to be on your toes and suffle about to survive.

Far From Ultimate Perfection

Although it’s overall fun, it’s still hard to ignore the fact that the game remains slightly incomplete. While playing, you'll notice that collecting loots feels unintuitive, depending primarily on your luck and not on skills, and information regarding ammo and weapon information is sometimes inaccurate. By the same token, high-end graphics may actually work against you: Should others choose to play with low-end graphics settings, they can easily remove the bushes and other green vegetation that helps you camouflage against enemies. Another downside worth mentioning is the game's  microtransaction system. You can purchase crates containing in-game cosmetics through BP, a currency you earn by good match performance. Some crates are available for free; however, most call for keys that require a specific amount of BP to pop it open. Even though these crates can give you the upper hand in certain situations, purchasing them will not literally translate into your ultimate win.

There is still plenty of room for improvements in the game. But given that the game's purchasing price is rather reasonable and overall the game can still be enjoyed, PUBG should not be discarded so quickly from the list.  As more and more updates take place, the game will become more attractive to play and rank closer in popularity to Fortnite, a similar video game.

Where can you run this program?

PUBG is available for PC. To install and run the game without a hitch, you’ll need a pretty hefty system. The software is only built for versions of Windows 7 64-bit and up. You can also play the game with your Xbox One consoles and PlayStation 4. If you're interested in playing PUBG on your mobile device, keep an eye out for the free download available to gamers.

Is there a better alternative?

Yes. Fortnite is much more popular and intuitive. An online video game created by Epic Games, Fortnite contains a building mechanic that lets you create your own cover. The game’s survival mode clearly presents the same basics found in PUBG. While it may have been an imitation of the latter game, Fortnite has outranked PUBG through its reliable, fast-paced cadence of updates. There’s no risk in trying Fortnite since it’s free to play. The arcade-like shooter genre mixed with an overarching battle royale theme will surely have you on the edge of your seat. Mind you though...if you are more of a fan of military sims with growing tension, then PUBG is the game for you.

Our take

PUBG can be considered a good battle royale game as a whole. Although there are issues in the action-packed software, its current popularity shows that the pros outweigh whatever cons there are.
