A horror-filled quest

Octave 0/3

Octave is a thrilling adventure game packed with horror around every corner. It manages to balance some fun gameplay with scary elements sprinkled in.

Don’t let the monsters catch you

Try and survive this paranormal, monster-filled world and solve some puzzles along the way.

Stay alive in this pulse-raising video game. Octave has all the right jump-scares to keep you on edge. There’s a whole world of horror packed into your touchscreen.

The story begins with your character almost being killed before some mysterious force saves him. Navigate your character through the supernatural forces and try not to get attacked by monsters while you discover what else happened.

Investigate the creepy shadows and the dark forests where there’s a ghost or two lurking around. Once you reach the abandoned house, you’ll need to solve some puzzles in order to find important clues. This element of puzzle-solving makes the game more interesting and adds a strategic dimension to the horror and action.

This title is quite difficult. But, don’t get frustrated or give up on the game too quickly. There’s a hint button if you’re struggling to solve the puzzles. It helps you move on to the next chapter quickly, instead of staying stuck on the same puzzle and eventually giving up.

The game is perfect for horror fans, but it has very mature content. Some scenes are unsettling, and gameplay can be intense. It’s gruesome and frightening enough to warrant a warning screen before you even hit play.

Another thing to bear in mind is that you can’t save your progress between chapters. The gameplay is relatively short anyway, but if you want to keep coming back to the game, you won’t be able to pick up where you left off.

Our take

Octave is compelling, with enough monsters and paranormal activity to quench a horror fan’s thirst. It could do with more content, as the playthroughs feel short.
