It is the second space adventure for the Angry Birds, following Angry Birds Space. The game retains the physics-based gameplay of its predecessor, but introduces new special abilities such as the use of the force and wielding a lightsaber.

Fans of the original movie, "A New Hope," will appreciate the attention to detail in Angry Birds Star Wars. The game takes players to iconic locations like Tatooine, Hoth, and the Pig Star (modeled after the Death Star).
