Boost your PC app sounds in real time
Windows PCs can only reach a specific maximum audio level. While you can fix this with external speakers, there is a cheaper solution called Sound Booster.
Go past the max
Sound Booster by Letasoft is a program that boosts the volume of everything running on your PC above its maximum possibility.
This multimedia tool lets you raise the volume of all apps running on your PC past the maximum level, up to 500%.
This program works through integration with Windows. Once you download the app, it will install a new audio processing object and create a shortcut on your system tray. From there on, it will automatically increase the sound of all your music and other sounds.
The interface is straightforward, showing you a volume slider to control sounds. You can also set up a hotkey for the same purpose.
In order to make the most of the program, you'll have to pay for the full version. The fully-featured trial does it all the same, but it will stop amplifying once every 10 minutes.
Another important mishap is the failure to identify different audio streams, which can amplify sounds from all sources simultaneously.
Where can you run this program?
You can run this program on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10.
Is there a better alternative?
No, Sound Booster is excellent. However, for Windows, you also could try FxSound Enhancer or SoundForce. Boom 2 is a great option for Mac.
Our take
This program works extremely well. However, there are issues that need some fixing up, such as lack of improvement in sound quality and limited customization.
Should you download it?
No. If you only want a volume booster, you can achieve the same results with an audio equalizer, and for free.
