Risk of Rain Returns is a side-scrolling adventure game that combines traditional pixel-based elements with a highly interactive open-world environment. While a single-player mode is offered, it is also possible to team up with an additional three friends in order to access even more PvE action.

As the title suggests, this game is based on the original Risk of Rain. It contains all of the very same fan favorites that players have come to enjoy over the years. There are also a host of new features to explore.

The story unfolds

A spaceship has recently crash-landed on the planet Petrichor V. Unfortunately, the planet is far from a forgiving world. While exploring different locations, the crew must learn to survive by obtaining valuable power-ups and defeating hordes of monsters.

Utilizing on-board cargo

It will be necessary to acquire various skills and powerful weapons as one progresses. Some of these are purely functional in nature (such as running faster or jumping higher). Others provide unique and fun skills, including the ability to employ a ukulele in order to stun enemies with music.

Survival of the fittest

Players have the chance to unlock a total of 15 survivors. Each is equipped with unique skill sets and can be outfitted with various weapons. Therefore, one of the primary goals of Risk of Rain involves mastering all of these personalities.

A long-awaited sequel

Due to the positive reception of Risk of Rain and Risk of Rain 2, it only stands to reason that this sequel should resonate well with fans. The fact that the multiplayer option has been completely overhauled is another advantage to be explored in greater detail.
