RailModeller Pro, developed by barnholt.net, is an application for accurately designing model railway and slot car layouts. Its extensive libraries include more than 6,000 different track elements and accessories, and layouts can expand to sizes of up to 10km x 10km. Support is also provided for elevating sections of tracks, and for creating tunnel sections, giving users all the core functionality they might need.
The extensive options included in the application mean that it has a steep learning curve, especially when it comes to using helixes, levels, and 3D rendering. The 3D rendering itself is a nice inclusion, although the final result is fairly basic. Meanwhile, the software also includes an invaluable image export function, with support for the JPEG, GIF, PNG, TIFF, PSD, and PDF formats, allowing for images to be used in a variety of external applications.
