Moon Mystery is a premium adventure game from Cosmoscouts and Freedom Games. This first-person shooter (FPS) is set in space, allowing you to explore and investigate. Its story revolves around an undercover space exploration mission that starts from the Moon and stretches to the farthest reaches of the universe. Featuring quality graphics, fitting sound effects, and a storyline that blurs fact and fiction, Moon Mystery feels like a cross between Half-Life 2 and No Man’s Sky with a premise that touches on the vanishing of Ethan Carter. Of course, a couple of areas could use more work.
Moon Mystery is built on the fictional scenario that, after the 1969 Moon Landing, mankind has returned to the lunar surface five more times. Each time, a haunting of some sort happens to the crew. You are tasked with leading the last exploration mission to unveil the Moon’s mysteries once and for all. This sets the tone for the exploration and mystery-based gameplay that it offers. With quality 3D graphics, you get to enjoy different experiences all in one. Solve puzzles to advance the story, an action-packed FPS aspect for the unwelcoming inhabitants, and platforming as you traverse the perils of the lunar surface. Beyond this, the game throws an extra difficulty curve with the need to monitor your condition, such as oxygen supply, in certain environments. The game is well-optimized, with minimal issues in terms of game physics and animation. For casual players, the main concern with this game is its high difficulty curve. The early game is accessible enough to learn. Don’t be fooled, however, since it comes with a rapid increase in difficulty level. Additionally, it’s mostly a linear single-player experience with limited replayability value.
