Metro Exodus - Sam’s Story is an expansion to the popular action game that follows the US marine’s story with new areas to explore.

To play Sam’s story, you need to get the DLC and already have the original game on your PC. Then, you get tossed into a brand-new storyline, together with another massive open map and several smaller areas for exploration.

A new setting means that you’ll get to experience fresh gameplay. It keeps the non-linear structure of the base game, having you explore the world and seeking upgrades.

However, the changed surroundings mean that the enemies also attack differently. To combat them, Sam gets two new weapons: a rifle and a handgun. There’s also a handy gadget.

These new features come in gorgeous visuals and sound design. While the voice acting isn’t ideal, it still immerses you in the plot, which has two distinct endings depending on your choices.

You can run this game on Windows 7, 8, and 10.

Is there a better alternative?

No. This game, along with the expansion, is fantastic. However, if you’re looking for other titles with in-depth gameplay and thrilling plots, try Gears 5, Control, or Remnant: From the Ashes.

This expansion feels more like a spinoff of the base game, packed with new locations and experiences. It has some hiccups in execution, but overall, it’s great.
