Gun down a swarm of Lovecraftian beings
Madshot: Road to Madness is an action-heavy platform shooter. It is the sequel to the original Madshot, and like the first title in the series, it is influenced by the horror fiction of H.P. Lovecraft, pitting the player against weird cosmic creatures.
While many popular platform games, such as Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 3, place a strong emphasis on exploration, this game departs from the model. The point is not to explore a large field but rather to survive in a small space against oncoming enemy hordes.
Choose your weapons
Madshot: Road to Madness opens with the player being asked to equip themselves with three items, including a mask, a weapon, and a sidearm. A range of options is available for each category: for example, weapons like guns and swords, as well as sidearms, ranging from the ice-launching Greatsword to a deadly boomerang. In addition, masks have various gameplay functions.
Face enemy hordes
Once the game begins, you'll be dropped into a confined environment and faced with a horde of enemies. Creatures will keep on coming while you use your weapons to blast and hack at them. You can also activate alterations for an additional boost — for example, Dash allows you to dodge by running, while Daze helps you to stun foes.
Mix-and-match gameplay mechanics
At first glance, Madshot: Road to Madness may appear basic, but it turns out to have sophisticated gameplay based on combining mechanics. The various different weapons, the character's range of dodges, rolls and flips, and the multiple enhancements can all be mixed and matched to suit your preferred playing style.
Cartoon Lovecraft
Madshot: Road to Madness does a good job of combining H.P. Lovecraft's influence with its own cartoon aesthetic. Fans of the famous horror writer will appreciate seeing Cthulhu and his other creations put in cameos while they blast their enemies.
