I remember Escape From Monkey Island as one of my favorite games on the Commodore Amiga because it combined great graphics, island adventure, and an engaging plot in one excellent role-playing game. Those attributes have been carried over into the Mac version and Escape From Monkey Island won't disappoint anyone who was a fan of the original. The game takes place in the Caribbean and you play as pirate Guybrush Threepwood, who returns home with his wife, the governor of Monkey Island, only to find that she has been declared dead. Your ultimate task is to restore your wife to office while uncovering a plot to turn the Caribbean into a tourist trap by the villains, LeChuck and Ozzie Mandrill.

Escape From Monkey Island is a point-and-click adventure game that features dialogues with different characters to guide you through the mystery. The game is entirely keyboard-based, with arrow keys used to navigate and keys like "L" and "E" used to examine objects. The treasure hunting aspect of the game is particularly exciting, as you never know what you will find hidden under a tree, a rock, or in a hut.

One of the most unique aspects of Escape From Monkey Island is the duels, which take the form of insulting verbal exchanges between you and your opponent. To win these duels, you need to know the right responses, which can only be learned by picking up hints, tips, and clues throughout the game. While this aspect can become a bit repetitive, it adds to the challenge and intrigue of the game.

Escape From Monkey Island is a classic adventure game that offers a unique storyline, challenging puzzles, and good graphics. If you're a fan of island adventures and engaging plots, this game is definitely worth a try.
