Glitches, bugs, and more

Borderlands 3 is the next installment in a wonderful franchise. The developers, however, put more effort into the art than anything else. Once you’re in the game, you’ll experience nothing but problems, boring gameplay, and a stale story.

Fast-paced action

This title fails to create the same enjoyable experience as the previous titles did. Technical issues and horrendous character development stand out.

Try to jump into this awful rehash of Borderlands 2. Everything is the same here, except for gun variety and a few new characters to play. In fact, although the art direction is unique, the graphics are almost a carbon copy of the previous games. Also, there’s an almost endless stream of randomized weapons to choose. This is a cool concept, but what’s the point if most of them are absolute trash? You come across a decent tool of destruction every few hours, so you end up selling a large majority of the loot you find.

Further, bugs and problems plague this title. This is more of a technical mess than a game. You’re required to download a separate launcher, install Borderlands 3, and then fight against it to play it. High-end computers are affected as well. No matter what you’re playing on, minimum graphics settings are a must. You’ll still experience the frustration of crashes and frame rate issues. Also, when you press a key, you’ll find that the reaction time is poor.

The story goes downhill from the start. Most of the narration and exposition play while you’re in combat, making it frustratingly difficult to hear it. What you do catch, though, is boring and unmotivating. There’s no sense of attachment to any of the characters, including your own. To top it all off,  AI is disappointing. They don’t hide, protect themselves, or take advantage of you when you’re most vulnerable.

Where can you run this program?

This game runs on Windows 7 and later. It’s also available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Is there a better alternative?

Yes. Funnily enough, Borderlands 2 is a much better option. There are mods to improve its visuals and gameplay, essentially outperforming its sequel.

Our take

This title has little to offer. With its shotty mechanics, technical problems, and shameful story, there’s nothing but disappointment abound. You might enjoy watching paint dry a little more than playing Borderlands 3.

Should you download it?
