Unbelievable sights and sounds

Bastion takes the familiar role-playing game concept and breathes new life into it with imaginative characters and visuals. As The Kid, you set out on an epic journey in a disintegrating world to piece it back together. You’ll need to collect the cores and go into battle with weird and wonderful monsters.

iOS port of an Xbox hit

Lose yourself in the stunning Bastion universe, an original concept with a refreshing take.

Initially available on other platforms, the title doesn’t disappoint in its iOS version. The standout features are its hand-painted graphics that create a bright and vivid world. Combined with the subtle and fitting soundtrack, playing Bastion is a pleasure.

The game gathers everything you would expect in a game such as this, including exploration, object gathering, weapons, and battles. RPG fans will rejoice with this title. It doesn’t feel old or tired. This is thanks to the overall concept, visuals, and the excellent narration.

As well as moving the storyline along, Bastion’s narrator offers wry and funny comments on your actions as a character. It’s a startling and entertaining feature. What keeps Bastion interesting is that you can make a few changes with the items you have and adjust the challenge level of your game.

You might need some time to become accustomed to the touch-to-move controls, although you can select the virtual controls that resemble those on the Xbox version. One aspect that significantly slows progression is weapon selection. There aren't any directions to guide you, and you need to arrive at the Arsenal to change the rhythm up. This is the only real issue that comes up throughout the title. Overall, there’s a great experience here for anyone who tries it.
