Profile Your Contacts Instantly with Vibe
Vibe is an app that aims to provide instant access to the identity and profile of people online. With Vibe, you can easily retrieve online data about your contacts right from your Mac's Menu Bar. Simply sign in and search for someone using their email address, and Vibe will retrieve as much information as possible about them. While the accuracy of the retrieved data can be inconsistent in the beta version, it is expected to improve as the app continues to develop.
Vibe retrieves data from popular sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Klout, and it even searches older platforms like MySpace. It also provides a brief profile bio of the person you are searching, although this feature is more reliable for well-known individuals or those with extensive online profiles. Additionally, Vibe can function as a Chrome extension.
Despite being easy to use, Vibe may initially cause some confusion as it does not install in the Dock but rather appears directly in the Menu Bar. To log in, simply click on the Vibe icon and enter your username and password. From there, you can enter an email address to uncover the person's Facebook profile, Twitter account, and more. While the accuracy of the retrieved profiles can be hit or miss, this is expected to improve in the final version of the app.
Overall, Vibe offers an interesting way to quickly access online data about people. However, until the accuracy of the retrieved information improves, it may be more reliable to resort to traditional methods like Google searches.
