Stingray WV: A Unique Social Media Platform for WVU Students
Stingray WV is a social media platform exclusively available to West Virginia University (WVU) students. Developed by Matoi Technology LLC, this free app offers a unique twist on traditional social media platforms. Unlike other platforms where users follow individuals, Stingray WV operates on a weekly rotation system. Each week, users are randomly assigned to follow a small group of people known as the Stingrays. Whenever a Stingray makes a post, it is visible to all users on the app, fostering a sense of community and connection among WVU students.
Stingray WV allows users to make different types of posts, including traditional waves which can contain text, images, or videos. Additionally, users can share live snapshots of moments through Sea Reals, repost content they like with ReWaves, and attach comments to their favorite posts with Quote Waves. Even if you're not selected as a Stingray, you can still participate in Stingray WV. The app provides a feature called "The Bay" where users can make secret waves that are only visible to themselves. Additionally, users can send direct messages to other users and customize their profiles to showcase their personality.
