Pop-pop: Arkanoid-style game with a twist
If you've ever played Arkanoid then you might be interested to try Pop-pop. It's a jazzed-up version of the classic game with lots of arcade graphics and sound effects thrown in. You can choose to play as one of seven characters in your bid to break all the bricks by bouncing the ball onto them. The aim, of course, is to destroy them all before they move far enough down the screen to crush you. Hidden in the bricks are different kinds of bonuses such as power plays, which allow you to hit the ball with more power thus destroying several bricks, and the possibility to control the angle of your shots.
Pop-pop can be played in puzzle mode, single-player mode, or a versus mode that lets you compete against the computer, friends, or other players online using the Ambrosia server. Puzzle mode has over 100 built-in levels, so there's no danger of getting bored there. Versus mode is more fun though, challenging you to beat your opponent in destroying the bricks before they do. There are even Pop-pop tournaments planned for those who really fancy their chances against the best in the World.
Pop-pop is a highly addictive game that definitely adds a few new dimensions to the Arkanoid genre and is ideal for those looking to pit their wits against online opponents.
