Banjara Dictionary: A Comprehensive Telugu Language App
Banjara Dictionary is a free Android app developed by Dictionary App Man. It is the largest dictionary of the Telugu language, which is the official language of Telangana, India. This comprehensive dictionary contains over lakhs of words and is a valuable resource for learners, teachers, students, and anyone interested in learning Telugu.
It serves as a collaborative effort aimed at documenting the Banjara language variant spoken in the Telangana State of India. This endeavor was initiated by the Education Department as part of the Multi-lingual Education drive, a project supported by various Integrated Tribal Development Agencies (ITDAs).
Under the guidance of Sri. R V Karnan (IAS), Project Officer of ITDA, Utnoor, this dictionary was created and is now accessible to the public through an Android app. The dictionary is a product of community involvement, created by and for the people. While it may not be perfect yet, it is considered a community-approved draft that remains a work in progress.
The dictionary encompasses various names for the language, including Banjara, Lambada, and Lambadi. The Iso-code is identified as "lmn." The language is spoken in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh within India, making it an essential resource for linguistic and cultural preservation efforts in the region.
