File management and editing software

Bandizip is a file management program that allows you to open and extract files from many archive types.

What can Bandizip do?

Bandizip can extract files from over 30 formats, including ZIP, RAR, RAR5, 7Z, and GZ. Users can compress and decompress files, change and recover lost passwords, and have the ability to edit files by adding, deleting, or renaming them. Bandizip has a long path and unicode support.

Bandizip’s interface is straightforward and easy to navigate through. Users experiencing difficulty with understanding the menu have the ability to customize it. They can hide undesired options, and display the ones they need.

The program does have a bug where it can corrupt data during archiving. The most consistently successful way to prevent this is to save or make a backup of the file before you compress or archive it.

Is it free?

Bandizip does have a free version, although it doesn’t have as many features as the paid version. For example, with the paid version users will have an ad-free experience where they can manage and recover passwords, repair damaged archives, and choose whether or not to update to the latest versions. The free version is recommended for general users but has no malware protection, so a virus can sneak in with pop-up ads if you do not have an ad blocker installed. A great ad blocker for this would be AdGuard.

There are two premium versions available for purchase. The Professional Edition, and the Enterprise Edition. Both versions are more or less the same, but the Professional Edition comes with slightly better quality. Users can register offline with the Enterprise Edition.

Our take

Bandizip is an excellent application for extracting files from archives. It’s simple to use and has numerous features that you won’t be able to find in just any file extractor program.

Should you download it?

Yes. Bandizip is one of the top file archivers you’ll find on the internet. A close rival is the WinRAR. We definitely recommend Bandizip.
