Dreams or nightmares?
You can clearly tell the app was never meant to become an actual product. The silly graphics represent the developer’s sense of humor more than anything else.
The Sonic prank
Nothing can be more confusing and pointless than the Sonic Dreams Collection. Everything about this title suggests the unlikelihood of full development if that was ever considered.
Sonic has never looked creepier if you decide to play. The distorted illustration of the beloved hedgehog was designed to have a humorous effect. It ended up looking more disturbing than funny. You’re given the option of playing with Sonic like a ragdoll. That is the entire game mode: adjusting the sizes of his limbs and arranging them into ridiculous postures.
The rest of this program puts you in a quasi-sandbox style setting. In one mode, direct movies and create eerie scenes using the ragdolls you made as actors. Choose from several scenarios to play in, and this means walking around doing absolutely nothing. You can interact with certain objects and record your activities, but that’s the extent of it.
You start with one scenario unlocked. To get other levels, you must first complete some objectives on another game mode. This one puts you in a scene with Sonic, and you’re given clues to make him do specific things like transform into a ball of fury. Don’t expect the slightest feel of mystery as the hints are super obvious and you can’t chain actions in this title.
Sonic Dreams Collection doesn’t have a storyline or any actual purpose to it. Sonic Dreams Collection feels unfinished, and playing it is a pain in the neck, and the levels aren’t connected. After playing for this game for a couple of hours you’ll question why you installed it in the first place, and you’ll rarely replay a level outside of unlocking a new one.
Where can you run this program?
You can run this program on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and 8.1.
Is there a better alternative?
Yes. Anything else is a better alternative. If you like the puzzles or mystery-solving genre, try Hello Neighbor.
Our take
This game is an absolute joke. It portrays Sonic as the central protagonist, but what it actually shows is how much the developers dislike this character.
Should you download it?
No. If you have any sort of love for Sonic the Hedgehog, this program isn't for you.
